What is Satin Nickel?

Our Satin Nickel is a hand-brushed finish, created by artisan hands in our factory. Many manufacturers create Satin Nickel using a lacquered coating to create striations. We leave our Satin Nickel finish uncoated, to allow the natural subtle beauty of the hand-finished metal show-off.

How is a Satin Nickel Finish made?

Like all our artisan finishes, Satin Nickel begins with our hiring process. Satinning is a highly-specialized trade skill. Once hired, each artisan spends six to nine months training to become an efficient artisan satiner. Our most senior artisan finisher has worked for California Faucets for over eighteen years.

Once trained, our artisan satiners use a wheel to create striations in a nickel-plated part. Then, the piece is buffed to a shine to reveal the luster and beauty.

Satin Nickel Finish Care

Finish care for Satin Nickel is very easy. Simply wipe dry after each use with a soft dry cloth to prevent water-spotting and mineral build-up. We recommend cleaning regularly with a polish such as Faucet Brite* which contains both gentle cleansers and a fine wax coating. Alternatively, clean with mild soap and water, then apply a quality car wax or floor paste wax. If not cared for regularly, Nickel finishes may oxidize and require a stronger cleaning agent. If your Nickel finish oxidizes, simply use a mild metal polish such as Flitz or Semi-Chrome to restore your fittings’ natural luster.
